Accessibility Statement
The Town of Glasgow is committed to ensuring that its website is accessible to all members of the public, including people with disabilities. We work to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level.
What we’ve done
This website was rebuilt in 2026 with accessibility as a foundational requirement:
- Semantic HTML — proper headings, landmarks, lists, and labels throughout
- Keyboard navigation — every interactive element reachable by Tab with visible focus indicators
- Skip navigation — first focusable element on every page jumps to main content
- Image alt text — every meaningful image has descriptive alternative text; decorative images are marked as such
- Color contrast — body text meets WCAG AA contrast (4.5:1 minimum)
- Resize and zoom — pages remain usable at 200% zoom
- Screen reader friendly — tested with VoiceOver and NVDA
- No motion traps — animations respect
prefers-reduced-motion - No tracking that requires consent — no third-party analytics, no cookie banners
PDFs and documents
The Town publishes many official documents as PDFs. Most council minutes from 2018 onward are tagged for screen reader use. If you need an alternate format for any document on this site, please contact us using the information below — we will provide the document in an accessible format at no cost.
Report an accessibility issue
If you encounter any barrier on this website, please let us know. We will work to resolve it promptly.

Ongoing commitment
Accessibility is not a one-time project. The Town will:
- Review and test the site annually for WCAG 2.1 AA conformance
- Train staff to author accessible content
- Tag and remediate PDFs published through the Town’s content management system
